Fuel lines

I've had to replace my lines and bulbs every other year. I've done it myself as well as had 2 boat shops do it. Every time I've had the hose interior cracked and breaking apart. The first time I had it done they were planning on a bunch of repair work to fix my motor that would stall after leaving the launch. Cut those lines open and they looked like sphagetti inside. My boat being an outboard has the lines exposed and maybe that increases the problem. Either way I just change them on schedule now.

Fuel lines are only part of the problem, the constant accumulation of water in the fuel is terrible for engine components and performance. That said, I totally get why "some" fishermen need larger fuel tanks if they have large engines and are going off shore and/or making long runs to fishing grounds, but for the "average" person any fuel tank larger than about 12 gallons is just too big. In my opinion, manufactures need to take a hard look at the size of fuel tanks they are putting in boats, understanding that the "average" person might use their boat 6 months out of the year (and that's being generous). The rest of the time it sits on the side of the house, in a garage etc. I've stopped using stabile and have gone to using star tron hope I get better results.

I used to have a lot of issues with starting motors in the Spring using ethanol gas. Switched 2 years ago to non ethanol and the problems went away. We have three stations in McCall ID that sell non ethanol.

fuel issues

paid $4.99 a gallon yesterday for the good stuff here in Vancouver....ouch! but better to have motors running then sitting in the shop getting repaired come April

Canada gas is too confusing between their measurement system and dollar conversion.

Our area in Utah now has many non ethanol stations. I haven't been able to find anything above 88 octane rating. I can find 91 octane in places in Idaho.

Rodger, My nephew was saying that the station across from the Cal Ranch has 91 octane? I questioned him and asked if he was sure and he said, yep I run it in my sleds and bikes.

I have not been by to check it for my self?

Thanks Aaron, That good to know. I use to gas up there but remember it as 88 octane and before all of the other stations started going in. Time to go back
