Sherry and I had a great time. We are definatley putting this on our calender for next year. We Boated 42 fish on saturday with the majority in the 13" range. We had a blast. I attributed our sucess to paying attention to what has been working from posters and conversations with other KokaneepowerOregon members. Thanks to those who put on the tournament the sponsers and all the members.

Odell Derby

I've had a great time, learned a LOT of new things and I've met many new friends while fishing the Kokanee Power Of Oregon Kokanee fishing derbys this year! Beside fishing different lakes in Or. they hold raffels for tackle and a serve great lunch while they are handing out the awards for the lucky winners. 1st. thru 10th. place winners will be in the money and that is a very nice thing these day's!

I would encourage everyone to start planning your next years kokanee fishing to include the K.P.O. and their Kokanee Derby's. Its a real blast!

I have posted the full 2011 Odell derby results on the Kokaneepoweroregon.com website along with a bunch of photos. If you see some photos that you would like copies of, email me with the description and I will get you a copy. I would also like to thank my team partner Kokonuts for his patience and persistence even though we had to quit early to work the derby.

On a side note, some issues were brought up at this derby, one of which was that there were KPO staff in the winners circle and one was that things such as lunch did not happen as soon as some of the participants wanted it to. In response to those complaints, I would like to say that all of the board members and the few who volunteered to help pulled out of the water an hour to an hour and a half early to get things rolling. That means that we were not able to fish as long and as hard as we would have liked, but were willing to do so for the goal of having a successful derby. Rick, our president and his partner got hit on both ends since they held an early signup and missed a couple hours of fishing in the morning and still came in early in the afternoon, (John of Uncle Larry's Lures) he drove over 750 miles one way then left early the next morning for home. This is a club and depends on members who volunteer. Without the help, the guys and gals that do all of the work get burned out and move on. Please show your support not only with your $$$ but with some sweat equity.
The sponsors who donate not only the $$$ but the products for the prizes also like to hear from you, telling them how much you appreciate their support and their products. For example, at the Wickiup derby one of the recipients of a Cabella's product wrote a letter to the store thanking them and telling them how much he appreciated the product and their generosity. Another example is Gary Miralles, who drives thousands of miles to attend these derbies and receives no funds for doing so. The gas comes out of his own pocket yet he is at every derby willing to lend a hand and donate products.
Please help us make your club successful!
