Will be spending a week at Wallowa as part of a family reunion from 6-15 to 6-22. This is our third year here and although it is beautiful the fishing (for me) has not been the best. Is there other options within reasonable driving distance for day trip that might offer other opportunity? Not really that picky but hoping to have something stretch the line at least!
Thanks for any tips

94 reads as of May 27 and no suggestions? Not looking good for options! Guess we make the most of it and enjoy the beauty of Wallowa Lake and the surrounding area and look forward to all the other places I will be fishing in Oregon after that week.

Don't know what kind of boat you have but hells canyon on the snake is close by I think. No kokanee. But nice trout and there is sturgeon, steelhead (maybe) and springers(maybe).
Cat fishing is a really good opportunity and so is the small mouth and crappie. I've had plenty of 200 crappie days there. Good luck! Willowa is toast...

That sounds like a very fun day. Two years ago we drove over to the Snake and fished crappie off shore but did nothing. I have a 16' Lund w/50 Merc tiller, graph/elec trolling motor etc: so it is set up pretty nice for fishing. I can't remember how long it took us to get over there but it was a while for sure, took a winding road that came out somewhere around halfway??? Then went north up to a park on the river and followed the river back south to a dam. Interesting country.....not too unlike Arizona actually!
