Went up for the last trip of the season today. Started off trolling but switched over to jigging after only a couple fish. Since there was no wind the anchor wasn't needed... jigged off the bottom in 60' of water. We released around 10 red spawners and came home with 7 bright silver keepers in the 12-14" range. All caught on homemade jigs with orange, pink, and chartreuse being the best colors. Corn was scented with kokanee special and krill oils. Both batches worked.

Thanks S.B. I was just starting to go into kokanee hibernation for the winter until your report... now I'm thinking there is still enough time to catch a limit or two.. I have cabin fever already and it's only been a couple of weeks. Does this kokanee sickness ever go away?

Nice report!!!

Fish On kokaneekid

I just got back from 2 weeks at Paulina and East. Wednesday was my last day and I packed up and got home last night.
While I camped at Paulina, I only fished it for a few hours, East is where I put my time in.
The fishing at East was as good as it gets as far as I am concerned. I had no problem averaging 15-20 fish/ day. Some days it was mainly green headed spawner's, other days the fish just had a tinge of red or were next years crop in the 10-11" range.
I would have stayed another week if I could, there were only one or two people in the camp ground and very few people fishing either lake.
On Sunday my Fish finder crapped out, but it didn't really make much difference, I just fished in areas that I knew had consistent depth.
All fish were caught at 40'. I used two different rigs. RMT watermelon dodger, wither either an Apex or Pro troll in watermelon, this caught about 60% of the fish.
The other DR had a RMT pink sparkle dodger with a pink pro troll with white dots.
I used pro cure Kokanne scent and fire corn in pink until I ran out, then red. It didn't seem to make any difference.
About 5% of the catch were Rainbows and Browns, nothing big.
One thing about East Lake is the wind. It can be calm at Paulina and white caps at East.
While the wind made running two DR's, trolling motors etc., difficult at times ( I was fishing solo), the fishing seemed at little better with a little chop on the water.
I also got to try out a new Cannon mag 10 STX. It has some much needed improvements over the older Mag 10. The biggest difference is the new pulley, it is a new design and works much better. I bought the new pulley and put it on my old Mag 10 and it works much smoother.
I put in over 30 days at Paulina and East this year, even though I live over 400 miles away. I will definitely be back in June.
