Didn't even bother with Wickiup this weekend. After last weekends skunking I decided to give old Paulina a try. Went up last Sunday and again This morning. Last sunday I was so bummed I didn't catch any pigs at Wickuip I slept in and got up there about 930 to 10 and we caught a few and had action till we left. Today we got there at six fished till 130 and left with limits for all. I took my youngest and the neighbor boy. Had action all day, They never quit biting. A few in the 13 to 14range. There not Wickiup fish but there are plenty to keep you entertained.Be up there again same time in the morning. Oh yeah bring lots of sunblock if you head up

geez..you live up there and cant catch fish at wickiup so why should i even bother?....i do catch fish in paulina. I avoid weekends also maybe thats the problem? all the kokes r at wurk during the week so dont bite....watta u guys think?

Man this weekend was perfect. There was six or seven boats tops. All jigging!!!! I hate jigging. The three of us limited trolling. After this reply I'm going to kokaneetackle.com and get me a variety of those Vance Gold dodgers they are talking about. I didn't catch fish that one saturday but hey thats whay they call it fishing and not catching. I'll be back.Did you catch any salmon.

didnt go just went to check things out and buy a new koke net. which was dumb, should have taken the boat as tht ocean was like glass and the crabing was good. ssalmon was spotty but tons of perch. maybe ill go tomorrow. i usually dont cross the bar but yesterday u could have in anything. wanna go pm me. i usually gto by myself. salmon fishing will only get better

Went to Paulina last night after work with my buddy. We were on the water a little after five and fished till 830. Last koke of the night broke my favorite jig. Ended up with 7. A few awesome bites with no fish on the other end.

broke the hot jig

broke your favorite jig????....sure that wasnt a lake monster or big brown? kokes to wimpy to break a jig

Nope it was from catching so many kokes on the same lure. They won't stay away from it. Lucky I have a bunch of tied up tandem hooks ready to go. Fixed and ready for friday after work and than again saturday maybe sunday. Bow season Starts the following week so it's mothballs for the boat and fishing stuff

Man I am having a great time fishing Paulina. The bite is good and the fish are okay sized. The three of us have limited everytime out. Thurs night we will be looking for another limit and maybe fri morning. I hate to say it but no more fishy after fri. Have to focus on the Hunt. Done hunting fish now it's time to hunt something bigger. Been a great season and hell who knows if Sat morning goes my way I will get some more fishing in. Fingers crossed

Was up last night. No issue for us with algae. My first time up there this year. I love the lake and the setting and we caught plenty of fish.....but....why are they so small? I am spoiled by Wickiup fish I guess. I know about how great the Paulina fish taste but man. I remember the first Koke I caught in OR was at Paulina about 9-10 years ago. It was 15-16" long and fat.(like a medium Wickiup koke) Have the chubs changed the food makeup that much in that lake over the last several years? Are there just too many kokes for the available food source like is happening in LBC?

Just got back from Paulina (wed 8/22) and had a blast!! Started off trolling over the drop off out from the resort. The fishfinder screen was completly...and i mean COMPETLY covered with fish from the 35-75' depth. It was thumbsup crazy!! We ran ball trolls with a 10' set-back. Dad had a Apex on and i was useing a R&K hoochie. Dad caught the first fish...ended up being about a 4lb brown which we released. After catching a few kokes and looseing a few more we decided to do a little drift jigging with the slight breeze. We drifted from the drop off east over 150' of water along the north shore. Probably drifted a 1/4 mile and the fishfinder screen was full of fish the whole way! It was pretty much non-stop action targeting suspended kokes between the 40-60 level. All in all it was the best day we've had this season. All fish caught were bright silver...except for one red spawner i caught/released while jigging off the bottom.

What do you think the conditions will be like at Paulina after the Labor Day madness? Staying home fishing the Umpqua at Elkton.. Still some pink fin surf perch off the beach north jetty. While bass fishing yesterday from my kayak, I had a half a dozen nice Chinook swim under my boat. They are in the river. Are the mosquitos still really bad at Paulina? We hope to make it up there Wednesday for a couple of days. Look for 16' Gregor(y) named Pricess 2. White VW eurovan. Aloha.

If it's like last trip up it should be good. If your jigging stay with the suspended fish...they're smaller but in good shape. The ones right off the bottom now are generally in the spawning phase. As far as mosquitos go they aren't bad right now. I'll be heading back up later next week...might see ya up there.
