I'm heading to willow a this weekend on my way to brownlee. Was wondering if anybody knows of logging roads or somewhere to stay for free. I'm spending enough on this trip and really don't want to spent $50 to stay at a state park. Any help is greatly appreciated

You're talking Wallowa Lake, correct?
There used to be plenty of places to camp up Huricane Creek Road (Just west of Joseph). Used to catch trout in Huricane Creek also. There's really nothing for free around the lake. Also depends on how far you want to drive.
There's a bunch of places to camp between Joseph and Brownlee also.

If you are headed over
Salt Creek Summit there are plenty of places to pull over and spend the night.
Here is a list of the camp grounds on the upper Imnaha area.

Blackhorse, Coverdale, Hidden, Indian Crossing, Lick Creek, and Ollokot.

Head east towards Imnaha, On the Google map the call it Wallowa Mountain rd. I have always call it Sheep Creek Road. Turn right onto it and follow it untill you get to the Imnaha River then go up river heading to Brownlee dam. All the Camp sights are along this road. A lot of corners but it is beautiful country.
