First of all, thanks to everyone on here who helped by answering questions and PM's. It took some trial and error, some luck and a lot of money but we were able to catch a fair amount of kokes and 2 kokes that I will put on the wall. They weren't the biggest reds but they were my first two and I am proud of them. We fished from Anvil up to Buckboard and found two areas that really produced and anotehr area that was ok. The hot color for us was green. Our green set-ups out fished everything else by far. The chartreuse UV squid with green splatter back behind the large MT hyperplaid and green dodgers was the best setup.
Landing one of the reds was the funnest freshwater fish I have ever fought. It stayed down for several minutes and I thought I was still attached to the downrigger weight. It made several long runs and pulled my pole into the water about a dozen times, even with the drag loose.
The weather was crazy with the wind blowing us off the lake the first night, keeping us up all night both nights we tried to sleep, perfect both mornings with no wind and warm temps.
Every time we went out we figured more out and our last morning there it all came together. I wish there was still time left for one last trip this year but everyone was complaining how slow it was and that July was so much better. I am already planning trips for next June, July and August! So addicting!
