Need to touch up the windings on some older Conolon rods. I am not a rod builder and dont want another hobby, just need to know what varnish, shellac, coating or whatever I can "overcoat" the existing windings with to keep them from fraying.. What should I use and where to get it????

If just doing the wraps, I'd recommend something like these single use packets. No mixing like with two part finishes, and probably can coat wraps on than one rod from one.

I'd also recommend getting some of the small nylon brushes to apply the finish. Cut a couple 'V' in the ends of an open-top cardboard box to hold the rod sections, and rotate the rod as you apply the finish. To level the finish, rotate the rod 90 degrees every 5 minutes while drying to start, and less frequent rotation as the finish dries and settles

thanks, will get it ordered You do realize theres no way to order a $10.00 item at C without the "while I'm at it " bumping the order up to $100.bucks
