With the talk of using a rubber net and the fact that double hook rigs are always getting tangled in the webbing of the nylon net I purchased one. Let me tell you my wife really appreciates it very much. One of the apprehensions I had was the weight of the net. To compensate for this I added some pipe foam to the hoop where the handle joins. This has worked out great. Now we just stick the net in the water and it floats perfectly while we reel the fish into the net. With the rubber net and the floating hoop we are keeping our gear in the water longer and we are not being caught by the hooks in our fingers.

Here is an item which I just added to the boat. Imagine that a net holder. I got tired of chasing it all over the boat. Now it is easily accessible to everyone. So I removed it because I thought it need something else. This other item usually is hidden in the gutter along with other essential items making them hard to find. So I added some 1/4" rod for two pliers holders. It turned out nice and will make for an easy find.

Hey MackayGuy,

I have the coated nylon version of the ergo. Not quite rubber, but way more hook friendly then my previous nets. I epoxied a plastic handle off a mini paint roller into the handle of my net and now I can screw a 4 foot aluminum paint stick onto it. Its now 8-9 feet long. I stow it on my 14 ft aluminum straight up at the stern in a one ft piece of PVC pipe screwed to my boat. One of the best ideas I ever had.

The Ranger nets look very nice and get a lot of recommendations. If I get another one it will probably be the Ranger.

I bought a Ranger net this past Friday from Cabela's. Haven't had a chance to use it yet but I think I will like it much better than my other net. It has a good balanced feel to it and it extends much further than my other net. Looks to be very good quality. It is heavier and I'm going to try the trick from metal Manipulator with the foam rubber to help it float as I think my wife (who is the netter on board) would definitely appreciate it. Thanks for the excellent Idea.

I've been using the Ranger extending rubber net for 5 years. Great nets! I want to try adding the floats as well!

Can you get just a bag somewhere? I like my net handle but would like to replace the bag with a rubber one.

ive seen them at the local sportsmans. I found a couple a few years ago that had been missmarked and got the for $2.50 each i took all of them
