Lake Samish is off to an amazing start. Theyre finally biting well, with averages of 5-6 takedowns an hour, not bad for this time of year. also, these damn fish are HUGE right now. Out of 5 fish, 2 are over 15 inches, and i got one a few days ago 16.3 inches and 1.49 pounds. This is crazy, the fish by fall are going to be giants. Theyre shallow, and are loving chartreuse. 25 feet was the depth this week. Fish are long, REALLY fat and fighting hard. Go get um

Lake Samish

Lake Samish 5-3-12 15.5 to 13 inches 003.jpgBeen on Samish these last couple of days. The water temp has droped from 54+ deg. to just over 50.
Fishing has been good. No limits, only because I've probably put too much pull on these big fish to get them to the boat. In two days, I've taken home 7 fish. 3 were 15.5 inches. The smallest was 13 inches.
They have been taken from the Surface (most) to 20 ft. deep(only 1).
The colors I've used are Orange Hoochie, Pink Spider, Green Spider.
I've used a Chrome Willow Leaf gang troll, Pink Splatter 4/0 dodger, and Blue 4/0 dodger.
Pink maggots, and Kokanee DNA.
Sorry, left out 2 fish.

yep bites gone slow a bit with the colder days and dropping temps. I limited this morning, went 5/7 in about a hour and 15 minutes. I have been fishing early, 6-8am usually, and running rods AT 18 AND 22 FEET on the downrigger, seems to be producing bigger fish for me. I have been using a technique not many people seem to use, which includes straight night crawler/corn behind a dodger. i will be posting a video on my youtube channel on how i do it soon i will post the link. I've been outfishing most boats on the lake with it, I use a double treble hook setup also because i lose way to many kokes with singles, hardly lose any now, again itll be in my video ill post it soon!

Lake Samish today

Hit the lake at 9:30 today. Not much wind, but cold and raining.Spent a hour getting set up, and desiding where to fish.( just hoping it would stop raining.) It didn't until I spent an hour in it.
When it stopped raining, the sun came out(almost) and the wind picked up to white caps. That is about 15 mph. That's when the fish began to bite. They hit on the surface while I was trolling perpendicular to the sun. Same rig as yesterday.
Lake Samish 5-4-12 002.jpg The most fun was when I poped three pills( perscription). As I was looking around for a bottle of water to wash them down, I had hits on both poles. I landed them both and then washed down the pills.
All fish were 14.5 to 13 inches.

Nicely done!

i hit the lake today around 4pm and fish till 7. For some reason the bite was on fire!! the sun was out, water temp was up to 53 degrees. Many drive by's, but we landed 10 in 3 hours, released 5 that weernt big enough, since i know the 15 inchers are easy to come by, and lost at least 10 on the long line release. It was on fire, at one point, me and my buddy messed around and ran 4 rods, WE GOT A QUAD HEADER!!! landed 3 of the 4 we had there! LOL fish were ALL on the surface couldnt get a touch on the downrigger not even at 10 feet. Fish on the surface right now! Ill be there in the early AM tomorrow, I'm running in a 10 foot white livingston with a minn kota trolling motor, me and my buddy will be in the boat tomorrow, give us a shout if your there and see us

Now that is a way to end a day! Congrats! Good luck tomorrow!

Landed 17 fish in 3 hours today, and lost at least 15. Stopped using bait after 10 and still caught fish. Kept 10 biggest fish, all fish were 12.5 to 16 inches, 2 were right at 16 inches and 1.3 pounds. Beautiful fish, there was about 10 boats on the lake this morning, people i talked to wernt doing very well... remember troll slow this time of year, cover water and troll up high. we got about 1/4 at 18 feet on the riggers and 3/4 on the surface with just a night crawler tail tipped with corn 18 inches behind dick nite dodgers, and straight wedding rings or needle fish spoons behind dodger once we got 10!
