do the kokes hang right with the browns and rainbows? i was fishing lead core and was catching browns but no kokes, i went down another color and started catching the kokes. are they mixed in normally or at different depths? all the fish i was marking were 25-30, so i don't think it was water temp.

You talking about west hill I assume? I usually catch the most kokanee with the riggers set at 35' and 40', 25'-35' is were more trout seem to be.

yah, okay. thanks. i never mark any that deep. usually 25-30 at the most

As in most fishing questions, the answer is "it depends". When the lake is cold like in early spring, the fish tend not to stratify. Later in the summer, the temperatures in most lakes stratify into layers. The fish will pick the layer they are most comfortable with. When this happens, you often get a layering of fish in the lake with small trout the highest in the lake, kokes below, and predators below that. King salmon will be very low. When feeding, most of these fish can temporarily cruise at higher temperatures than they are comfortable in.
Brown trout, while often found below the kokes, can be in almost any temperature commonly found in lakes.
