I went to Strawberry today, thinking I might get into some kokes. I generally do my best fishing for kokes around July 4th of each year. I was thinking this year being hotter & drier that the fish might be there sooner.

Launched at Renegrade and headed out to my favorite koke hole around 8:00 a.m. It was a beautiful day on the pond. I ended up catching 18 slot cutts, the majority were on the small side of the slot. Water was about 59 to 60 degrees. I see the cutts are starting to school up. I could see schools of 20 - 25 fish, 5 to 15 feet below the surface. In years past I would see schools of hundreds - so it might be getting close? I did not catch any kokes - not sure where they are hiding??

Off the water at 1:00 p.m.

This was really a strange day, I caught the majority of the fish on a down rigger cheater which was a RMT spoon. I did not catch anything on the main line trolling RMT dodgers & squids. I ended up putting a large chrome dodger & a large blue squid and ended up catching a few.

The big fish of the day just under 21 inches.

Hope things start picking up!!!
