Went out with Melanie for a day at a local lake on Saturday, June 15. I only caught one koke, about 11 inches, average for this lake. Problem is a lot of small trout, if bait is used you will limit in no time and have to stop fishing. We went with no bait or scent,, thus able to keep fishing. We caught and released about 10 fish, kept one fatty of about 16 inches, was in good shape as far as trout with copopods go, this lake after June has issues with fish being voraciously chewed up by these parasites. Kokes are in better shape, copopods don't seem to attack them, but another parasite attacks their gills. The one we caught was in good shape, couldn't get on the school, a LOT of smaller trout in the way. I caught the lone koke on a little cleo spoon, down 35 ft., any small spoons would prob. do the trick, the kokes weren't hitting sling blades and hootchie but the trout were, even at 40 ft.!Lots of fun for catch and release, sharpens up your downrigger skills.Speed limit is 5 m.p.h. until 11:00 A.M. so hit it early to avoid jet skis and skiers. We hit Lake Wynoochie on Sunday, picked up a beautiful 17 inch cut, all others had to be released due to under 12 inches.Bob R
