Hi, Berryessa yesterday with a couple good friends. Long story short, it was a long day. Plenty of bass fishermen and quite a few water skiers. We started out at the narrow for a nice spotted bass about 11" which was set loose. Then we had a dry spell and made a move to the big Island. Just north of the island my buddy scores on a koke, woo hoo the skunk is off. Trolled around there for a while and he hit another koke. That's about the time all the recreation boaters came out and the bite shut down. Made a move to the dam area and my buddy hooked a nice rainbow. It was a little furry. Pink and herring were the flavor of the day. Beautiful day but its still a little early.
cheers

Glad to see you got out to enjoy the fabulous weather. It's really not that early anymore (for Berryesa standards) and really starting to wonder what's up. The Rainbows should be thick right now. What depth of water were you fishing in how deep of water?

The kokes came at 15' otw and over 100' to 120' north of the big island. Sure was vacant on the FF, the fish must be shallow and not being seen on the ff. Last year we were slamming them at this time, so when I say early I mean this year is off to a slow start compared to last year.

I'm dying to get out there but burning precious gas for a long boat ride has me perplexed.

Is the algae still bad? Can't wait to get out myself. Little league will cut down my already hard to find fishing days, but it's worth it. Maybe season will start late and finish late unlike last two years. Dang kokes. Make up your mind. Thanks for the report.

Got the boat all cleaned up this weekend just in time for the rain. sigh. I'll have to wait another week then I'm playing hooky and hitting the lake.
Thanks for the report!

Yes the algae was still thick in spots. We did find some clear water and that is where we picked up the Kokanee. I'm ready for this season to start kicking too!
