Tackle Boxes

What tackle box due you use? I myself have been using the Plano boxes. I have one for over 30yrs Plano 8606. Its got quite a few miles on it but very funcional as the day I bought. Also have a Plano 8000 series for over 20yrs. Both boxes are large but I've been running out of room for a while. I have sack full of lures with no home for them now. I've been looking at the Plano 9606, a larger box still. Between the 3, I should be good for a while. I like Plano because of the way they open with the trays expanding. Some Plano's & Flambeau's have boxes within boxes. Just never could find them useful for my needs. I keep a small one in case I feel like going bank fishing. And that happens on occasions. tongue2

I went to the soft bag years ago. The more and more tackle I accumulate and the different species I fish for makes a soft bag with the plastic cases a much better choice. I can use the same bag with all my tools by just trading trays of tackle for what I fishing for that day.

I am doing the same with the Soft bag. This way i can change out the clear boxes with the ones that I need and leave he others at home. This hss worked the best for me.

I use the clears plastic cases also, and just take the ones for the specific fish I am targeting. I do have a couple tray tackle box's for repair items, hardware, and terminal tackle. For dodger storage I use soft sided dodger storage bags with clear pouches inside that have velcro closer's. I also use other bags like these for storage of small gang troll set-ups.

Last year I bought one of those boxes with a drop down front and slide in boxes (Plano 3700s) plus a storage on top. I think they call it a 3x3 or something like that. Love it. I can decide which boxes to take and just slide the right ones in. I have different ones for different types of fishing. I can buy extra 3700s and take whichever ones I want.

i use ian gold rig wallet and fox planner box but only ever take the tackle that will be needed for the day or weekend look them up on the web you might like what you see captin bob

I switched over to the soft sided bags as well. I found some albacore bags that hold 5 Plano boxes and has storage on the top. The thing about these are, they have pack pack straps which makes it real easy to carry when going with some one else. I call them travel bags, I take all my lure building equipment/tackle when I go for more then a few days.

They hold enough stuff.. and Like the other I can just take what bags of the fish targeted.

I use the Plano 3700 boxes or the bass pro 370 because the BPS are cheaper. I put these in an old milk carton and carry quite a few in that carton I mean here in Colorado I have quite the array of fish to fish for in the same lake I might kokanee fish in the morning then fish for walleye in the afternoon so having all the tackle works great also I like saving money those soft sided bags are very cool but my milk crate hold more tackle and I believe it was cheaper thumbsup I like to think of it as red neck ingenuity but then again that's to big of a word for a simple man.

But not conducive to boat hopping. We take a lot of turns fishing on each others boats and transfering tackle is always the most difficult part of it. If I only ever fished on my boat, I'd just have all my tackle stored on the boat.

Dave i hear you on boat hoping but the milk crate box is just as easy to move from one boat to the other as a soft sided box my friends looked at me weird the first time i will admit but when the saw i had 8 boxes and thier bags only carierd 4-5 and took up about the same space just saying it works for me.

Milk crates? Sounds like an awesome idea. I think I'll try that out. Seems the more I read these forums the more cool ideas I see. Hope to reciprocate eventually.

My tackle box

It is a Plano Large Marine Storage Box-Model 1812-50. It is about 17"L x 14"H x 11"D. (I don't mind the color 'cause I'm a Giant's fan)
The clasp is easy to find and it is easy to open with a O-ring seal.
The small compartment on the top holds bottles of Pro-Cure and that's where I carry a small sandwich bag of corn.
There is a lift out tray under the lid (which usually has more stuff in it and isn't that neat).
The main compartment holds up to eight Tackle Buddies on end, a small Plano box of dodgers and a lunch bag.
