For guys that like to make their own tackle, my biggest tip is to not assemble a lot of different lures. I tie a few in a variety of colors and let the fish tell me what I need to tie more of on any given day. I tie a 100 pre-tied double hook leaders and put them in little zip baggies. On days that I find a particulary hot lure, I make a few more between fish utilizing my bead and blade boxes.
So far... (OCD) I have found that I like to use the short snack size ziplock baggies to hold lures and dodgers. If I find a combo that works well together I just bag them up together and put them in a little plastic tool box. I find it easy to sort through them when I am in a hurry to find the next super lure and it doesn't take up much room.
I have a ton of the plastic divider boxes but they never seem to be the right size and they take up a lot of room. I use them to store stuff at home then bag up what I want to take with me.
I personnel feel too be a good and successful fisherman you need to be organized when fish are hitting and you break a leader/you can't be stopping to retie everything. I have been in some very successful guide boats some are jut a mess and other extremely organized. I have special boxes for everything I personnel have a G-LOOMIS Salmon& Steelhead Box carry's 8 Plano boxes/a G-LOOMI Fresh Water Box the same/ Sturgeon Box/ so when I'm targeting a species I just pull that box/I carry two large plain boxes with hold 6/7 pre tied Bait Buoys made by hookumgood in each box pre-tied kokanee rigs or wedding ring spinners /each pre-tied I all so carry 5 G-LOOMIS CARRY ALL they are or have zip lock bags inside a case these will carry flashers for trout/one with brass / one for silver/ trolls like ford fenders different sizes/One container for just numerous wobblers etc everything has a place and is marked so when I need to change its effort less. All my Salmon mooching rigs are pre-tied and marked with # line ,length of each leader hook size just takes just a few minutes to change out The pliers and knife all put back so when you need it your not looking all over the boat for the pliers so you keep and organized ship All my equipment like my down riggers come in and out I had special male and female mounts made so when I'm salmon fishing my downrigger are home completely out of the way nothing is permently attached I want nothing on my gunnals that a Salmon net will hook into. I fish for numerious species of fish at different time of the year. I've watch so many videos were fisherman are climbing over coolers/ gas can/ in the rear of there boats to net a fish only to loose it because of all there equipment in the way. anyway hope this helps you a little on how to organize a boat/and tackle also depends what your using your boat for and maybe you only fish for kokanee and nothing else good luck
