Sorry to say there is no boat that can do it all. I have a open guide model 21 ft would never of dream to take in the ocean have to much respect for that water great to harvest fish and fight but it leave you in the elements. I have owned a walk through boat fine for the element they don't track well don't troll well in wind canopy acts like a sail. get my drift good luck
4130 I see your point I fish all over this state I just don't see a lot of dory's mostly closer to the ocean and in the bays crabbing but in land you see very few they are heavy to haul on the Columbia very few. look around don't be in a horry lots of boat for sale
I've always thought about a Dory as a retirement boat that would allow me to fish later in the season and in any kind of foul weather because of the cabin. As long as the wife isn't making you get a boat the kids can ski behind, I think it would be a great choice.
