I am looking for new batteries, What do you guys use and prefer? This is for my electric trolling motor. I have a 12v, but I am looking to buy two and tie them together so I have a longer charge. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am also looking for a battery charger for the system.

Gotta love B.O.A.T.S

Thanks!

As in RV use, the general wisdom would be to get two 6 volt cart batteries and hook them up in series rather than two 12 volt batteries hooked up in parallel. The amp hours is generally greater with two 6 volts than with two 12 volts (but not always). The sixes will last longer (more charge/discharge cycles), and are somewhat more sturdy. 2cents

If you go to Interstate Batteries, cljck on Marine, then click on Specs You can compare virtues of various types. I won't recommed a brand of batt. The site give you ratings , weight, ect.

I just purchased 2 batteries and a charger from Cabelas. They were sold as a package deal. The batteries are the agm brand and the charger is a two bank. I plan on using both of them solely for my electric motor. I have no clue if the batteries and charger are any good but I shall find out this year if I f#$%ed up again.

I use 2 - group 29 wet cells and get my 3 years of service out of them. For some reason, I have this aversion to paying the high price of the gel batteries. Reports are the gels last twice as long.
