A few weeks ago I posted that my Minn Kota on the front of my glass boat went on the fritz. I ordered new parts from Minn Kota and was able to replace everything and when I put everything back together the parts wouldn't line up and touch. I took a hardwood piece of wood and sanded and trimmed and then put everything back together and wa-la it works like a charm. It always makes you feel good when you can get something up and running again. Took my grandson (7yrs) fishing Saturday. Had a great time, I let him drive the boat while we were trolling and he was in seventh heaven. Oh and we caught some nice rainbows for dinner and that made him even prouder. He went back to Oregon Sunday with his parents thinking that Grampa is the greatest. You got to love young minds.101chromefish101101chromefish101

Good story Zonker but you lost me how a sanded piece of wood got your Minn Kota to line up.

Letting your grandson drive the boat gives a good sense of responsibility. When he's praised for a good job done, he'll be back for more and wanting to leave mom & dad home for some quality grandpa time. signfishin

fisnishing the Minn Kota assembly

The piece of wood that I had to make went between the gears of the gear head and the red direction nob on the top of the head of the motor. The direction nob was about one half of an inch short of securing on the top of the gears underneath. I made the wood piece so that it fit in the small opening of the gear and the larger opening of the directional nob on top. The best thing about it is that it works great.Just don't ask me to overhaul your motor.101chromefish101101chromefish101
