UV Question

I am a new guy here and have a question. On most of the RMT tackle it is indicated to be UV
sensetive. My question is "is it common practice to apply a UV light before beginning to fish with this
equipment"?

No, UV does not require a charge like glow to make it effective. Applying UV light simply helps you see how the fish can view the ultraviolet color band.
