Just picked up a couple of spiral wrapped Vance rods, was wondering when you put the 2 pieces together if you are supposed to see the black part of the ferrule still. It looks kinda weird cuz the 2 pieces dont come together all the way, is this normal for these rods??? Thx 4 any info

Yes it is normal, designed just that way. Vance explained it to me last year at the sportsmans show but I don't recall all the technicalities. I know it has something to do with the type of ferrel (sp?) used and getting the most strength out of the rod. You also don't want the two ends to fit tight together and rub against each other as the rod flexes. Apparently this is the same ferrel and design used in some of the better two piece fly rods.

I have two of these rods, love them, never had a problem.

thx 4 the info fellas, also thinkn of getting a couple shakespeare agilities as backups, anyone have anything they can share about the agility? Thx

Agilities are my "go to" rod in the boat. I've got at least 5 of them and have delicate control on Kokes as well as landing double digit weight fish on them. For $30, can't beat them.
