Been on Wallowa last two days and will be till next Thursday. Finding fishing very tough and being a non-resident and new to Kokanee I will say it is challenging at best! We have caught maybe 5 with largest 14 1/2 and others much smaller. Have lost several fish but they also felt small. Best luck has been vertical jigging over schools located in 80 feet of water. Most of those seem to be small fish as they are not even making hooks on my graph, mainly just black clouds.
When I leave here I will fish the Columbia for walleye for three weeks then wind up on East Lake July 13-22 so hoping that will be better. We did quite good there last year at that time of year with majority of fish around 12".
Still beat the heat of Arizona, this is beautiful country.

If you have not stopped by the marina yet you should. They are very willing to help you with information that can help you catch some fish. The fishing reports state that it has been slow and I am hoping it changes towards the end of the week.

Kakaneegal,
We have trolled and trolled, will start the day out that way today too.

Metal Manipulator,
thanks for the tip. We have been in there and they were great and we have caught some fish following the gals advise from the marina, just small ones however.
We will keep trying and will report back as the week progresses. I have talked to quite a few people and have not heard of any good reports of bigger fish, one here and there. So, I think it is still tough or I am not talking to the right people.

Leaving here tomorrow and headed for the Columbia River and hopefully some walleye! Had a great time and really love this area but fishing did not improve for me at all.
I met some other forum members who normally do quite well here and had pictures of some beautiful fish from past years and their report was not much better, that made me feel some what better.
Went to Hat Point today and saw two different blonde phase bears, and took in the beautiful scenery. Even a bad week of fishing is a great week of fun, it usually balances itself out in the end. Already made reservations for this week next year so hope to meet more of you then. Thanks for the personal replies and suggestions!

Slooooow

Just returned from Wallowa Lake and yes the fishing was slow. We managed up to 9 fish one day and only two were in the 13 to 14 inch range. We caught fish both trolling and jigging. Like other lakes this year the fish are doing some thing different in their behavior and I could not get them figured out or there are not as many fish other than the small ones. The weather was great and the company awsome and a good time was had by all.
