Going up to Wallowa Lake in late August. Can anyone tell me if I would use the same tactics for Kokes in that deep natural lake as you would at the Gorge? Any first hand knowledge would be appreciated.

The techniques are probably the same, and I can tell you to expect big fish but August is usually a little late for the fish at Wallowa Lake because the spawn has started. To get the best fishing I suggest jigging through the ice throughout the winter. Attached is a picture of a 13 1/2 pound 5-fish limit from just last week.
