Jerry Logosz who used to own the market in Joseph, but now lives in Arizona, has been fishing Wallowa Lake this summer and on July 19 boated a new state record kokanee. The fish was 27.25 inches long, had a girth of 15.25 and was weighed in on a state-inspected scale at 7 pounds o.875 ounces. The fish was caught at about 11 am at a depth of 30 feet with a Sling Blade and Apex with Shoepeg corn. There is a picture in the Wallowa County Chieftain. It may be accessible on line but not sure.

So forgive my ignorance but is this lake known for large kokanee like the Flaming Gorge or is this a lake with average koks that produced a once in a lifetime monster?!?!?

I believe the last state record came from this same lake and I also think it holds the state Laker record as well. I have heard of large kokes there for several years but have yet to make it over. It is only three hours from me!!!!!
