I have been fishing wallowa lake for the last month on weekends.
Been marking lots of fish at different depths.
I have trolled thru many schools with my downriggers.
But have not caught many fish and the ones we have caught were very small.
Has the lake just not got the temp stabalized or whats the deal?

I would stop by and talk to the people at the Sports Coral or the marina at the head of the Lake. They will give you some answers and some tips. When we were there over easter we jigged on the bottom in 135 to 150ft of water. Corn soaked in shrimp oil and a maggot. Limited the 2nd and third time out.

The big fish craze is probably over the reason there was big fish was due to a slide which blocked fish from there spawning grounds which was three years ago now that they have been able to spawn normally since the slide cleaned it self out I'm sure the population is much larger which means the food supply is more spread out between the bigger population of fish which diminishes the size of the fish Wallowa is probably back to normal

I don't understand how this relates to fish size?

What he's referring to is the land slide that blocked their spawning creek three years ago. Because they were not able to spawn there were less fish in the system. Less fish less competetion...... equals bigger fish. According to him the slide has washed away. If its true that f****** sucks! I planned my first trip there in july

the slide occured early in the year, caused some flooding but was back to normal for spawning season.we have caught 13 to 15 inchers jigging this year but trolling has been slow. jeff yanke our distric bio has been tracking water temps at all depths of the lake. last week our surface temp was 44,moms day was 51
