As we are already mid season, it appears that the Gorge will not be a season of great numbers but at least providing some quality. We fished from Buckboard up to the confluence and caught limits each day with at least one fish reaching 20” every day. It was amazing to me that fish are being caught 20’ to 30’ deep this late in the season. Last year it seemed like they were 40’ deep or deeper by June. As for lures, it has taken a lot of combo changes during the morning to get our fish. A peach colored mini hoochie has been my best producer overall.

A little fish porn to go along with my report. I will be back after them next week.

Nice job Dave we will be back next week also. Hope to find some a little farther down south than that.

Mighty fine catch Dave. I'm getting antsy for a run myself very soon.
We got one an inch bigger the following day but never got a pic of it.

Oldguysrule, good luck. There have been a few guys in our campground that have stubbornly kept fishing the old spots down south for squat. No one knows what has happened to those fish.

I don't think that I would go as far as saying the road work is all done but they are done working on it. The gravel road out to Brinegar's launch was the worst that I've ever seen/felt it. Wash board city.

First Timer

I'm heading up (over) for the first time meeting a friend at Sheep Creek Bay this weekend. Any advise on where to head (with Utah license) for kokes? I'll post up when I get home. Much appreciated.

Straight out in front of Sheep Creek launch are some red cliffs. Try working those walls early. Then move to Beehive/Hideout.

We had a great time and did catch fish by the red cliffs. It was somewhat slow going, but I enjoyed the view! The kokes I caught were mostly in the 2 lb range, while my buddy caught one that went 3.7 lbs. We bagged a few small pups, and spent one night enjoying the stars and comet while jigging for burbot. A beautiful trip despite the afternoon rain showers.

I helped a couple young ladies back to the ramp with their paddle boards during one tempest while it blew our tents down.

Thanks a bunch, Pete.
