Well, I had a day off to use or lose and today was the day that was available.

Weather forecast - by 9:00am 100% chance of rain, 52 deg and winds at 12mph. Barometer = variable. If it's not white capping I'll give it a go.

Well the weather man was right about the rain. By the end I had about 1" in the bottom of the boat. The wind held off until about 11:15 when it started capping so I headed in. Pacific Power has made great improvements to the park over the last year.

From 9:30-11:15 managed to boat six, and had three other strikes. All six went back to fatten up.

Water: 52 Air Temp: 46 Wind: 10-15 Fish were schooled at two depths: 15-20' and 35-45' Numer of boats at the lake: 1 (me) 101superman101

Rigs: Fish with Gary #2 and a spinner, Dodger and spinner, Vance's Dodger and Squid.

Despite the rain, my gear kept me dry and managed to have a relaxing morning at the lake.

Can't wait for the picnic on June 9th.

thanks for the Yale report in tough WX conditions.
used to love the cold wet but old bones can't take it anymore even for tastey crazy kokes or fat winter steelhead.

Yale kokes have always been slower growers than Merwin, must be the colder water temps and less feed. They sure school up nice thought in late summer/early fall and go on that wild Yale prespawn bite, must be schools of 10 thousand.
thick as hair on a dog.

love fishing in a downpour. sound of the millions of drops hitting the water is like fish symphony.

how's the new upgrade boat launch work in the wind?

The new launch worked well. Three long metal docks now instead of two worn out wooden ones. This helped to give a buffer from the waves for sure.

They also added a new 'facility' right by the launch for quick pit-stops when needed.

Great effort to go out in the face of a forecast like that, glad you did well, I just spent a sizable amount on rain gear recently, glad I did as the last rain I was in didn't affect me and it was pouring by the time we went in. Bob R

Fished it today from 12 to 3:30 Had my two kids and one of Shawn's fishen buddies with us, If you thought the fish were small last year, they are even smaller this year. We still has a great time, 4 rods 3 kids and fish, fishing rods, nets, hooks flying everywhere, I reeled in a couple but for the most part I sat back and watched the fun. Kept 4 trout and 20 Kokanee, we let at least that many fish shake off the hook at the boat and had a bunch of take downs that didn't stick. I don't think we had a 5 minute stretch with out action, lots of doubles and a few triples. Crazy fun tooexcited.

2 colors of lead line and 10-15 feet on the DR's. Sling blades, hoochies, micro hoochies, Shawns special Koke killer lure, and pink maggots. Id like to think that just about anything proven would catch fish when its that hot but we talked to a boat fishing the same area as we were and they had 5 fish so, not sure what they were doing/using but I guess it does make a difference.

If you listen really close you can hear the fish tremble when these two boys get together! thumbsup
