Yeck Weenie downrigger weight

What are your thoughts that have led you to them? They look like they will certainly work. Their selling point is being used around structure which typically isn't a concern with Koke fishing. Aerodynamically, they look like they will perform well for blow back. If their price point is in your range, give them a shot.

Round ball weights seem to have a lot of drag through water so I was looking for something else. I thought about making some stick weights, but decided I didn't want to mess with that. I found these Yeck Weenies and thought they should move through the water better and give less blow back. Also maybe slip into the rod holder when not in use. I think I will give them a try. Will let you know how they work out when I have some experience with them this summer.

How will these weights orient in the water when in use? up and down like a "stick" weight...or horizontal like a ball weight?

Reason I ask is if it is up and down...I wonder if the thin end that the release is attached too would allow movement towards the fish and maybe not allow a solid hook set. But...what do I know..Rookie here...only one year in. 101whocares101

I think hanging it from the thin end would make it a stick weight even if that wasn't how Yeck anticipated it being used.

SD...That is why I was wondering..hanging it from the thick end would still cause it to hang down..thin on bottom....if fish hit it may cause some movement (depending how light the thin end is) and thus not give a good hook set...let alone extra POP needed to release clip.

I have not seen one of these ..just curious how it would operate.
