Hi! My name is Chance (yep, my real name) I'm a semi-retired aquatic biologist and have worked principally in research throughout Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska.
I'm planning on spending a significant amount of time on Dworshak Reservoir this spring and summer - chasing kokanee mostly. I've fished it off and on for the last few yeas but plan on hitting it pretty regular this year.
Am looking to correspond with others that have experience on this reservoir. I've caught LOTS of kokanee on different lakes/reservoirs over the years but haven't been in a position to do much in the last 5 years or so.
Am wondering about gear - whats new, any thoughts some of you might have about where/when/how to chase these guys. And, who knows, maybe meet up with a couple of you. I've got a pretty decent boat with electric downriggers and good electrics.
Hope to hear from some of you.
Cheers!
Chance

How did you do? I understand that lake is great Kokanee fishing until the September time frame (the only time I trued it).

I've fished Dworshak lots but not in the past 4 years. I mostly launch at freeman Creek, and early I'll fish the shelf across the reservoir, or in the Canyon Creek arm. As the water warms and the reservoir fills I move up towards Magnus bay. Last few years there has been loads of blue-backs (or so I've been told) and small across the board.
