New Melones 6/6/2010

Well, Tortuga didn't post yet, so I'll put in the pics first & then let him post.
Turned out to be a great weather day even though it was a bit windy. Don't know why, but my new Jared Johnson rod paired up with me new Tica reel was HOT yesterday. Only catch on my other rod/reel was the first fish of the day which was a nice trout. I tried a variety of setups and nothing worked. Tortuga was an awesome netter, I sure thought I was gonna lose a few of those kokes as I was reeling them in because they fought hard & a few were trying to jump up in the air.

Froggie

We hit Tuttletown 6:00ish and left at like 2:00. We fished from Rose to the 49 bridge and brought home 6 nice kokes...well Froggie brought home 5 nice kokes and I managed one...but man you should see me dip a net!! Oh yeah Froggie also caught and released a 13" bow! I didn't net that one, we just shook it off at boatside.
The first koke in the boat was a honest to gawd football that was like 15" and I just had to weigh it at the house and it was still 1lb 9oz....a reel fattie! It was 4" on a side!! Every fish in the boat was at 42' and on orange!! We were going 1.4-1.8 OOPS...except the first one...the bow. The first one wasn't orange, that one came on Froggie's first totally Froggie designed and produced Green and Pink Something or the Other...special made spinner(lollipop colored....sorry Dick Murphy) at 20 feet! Watch out, she'll have her own line of tackle any day now.
We were really scouting for CAST...man I hope it picks up!!!

Great catch Froggie and Tortuga... we were there Sunday as well but we missed you apparently as I was with Capt Al on his boat for the day. Those fish are nice this year and a few of ours I swear were acting like Berryessa monsters but they were just feisty fat 14 to 15 inches.

That trip to mecca... aka the Gorge should be coming up soon for you guys I think?
