After reading the reports on Wayneswords.com on the great striper fishing down at lake Powell, my wife and I decided to go. We left SLC around 8 saturday morning and arrived at Wahweap around 4. Launched the boat and headed over to the dam, no fish being caught and nothing on our graph. We wasted about an hour over there trying to locate fish, then we noticed we were the only ones still there. We then headed over to buoy 3 in the inlet and channel and found a few fish. We ended up with 7 stripers before we had to leave and get back to the ramp before dark. The next morning the boat ramp fiasco began. In my excitement to spend some quality fishing time on the lake I forgot to unhook the front of the boat. Backing the motorhome up and down next to the docks and finally hitting the dock and doing some damage to the motorhome I get out and realize what I had done. We finally got under way and headed over to the dam area and put 9 more fish in the boat before we had to head home. We didn't catch fish by the hundreds but we did witness one boat that did just that, every cast they would bring in a fish. We had a great time but we definatly needed to stay for more than a day. The pics are from our first nights fishing.

jekern, I own a condo about 2 miles from Wahweap and love catching those stripers on my kokanee rods. My best fishing is usually over at the dam soaking anchovies off the buoy line. Having caught fish by the multiple dozens out of Powell, I've learned that trying to clean 50 stripers is an all afternoon event. But they sure are good eating!!!!
