    Matching outfits?

All of our wives think we are crazy! Good looking tape jobs. I still use my kids custom tape and painted dodgers all the time. As for matching...never, except maybe when I go with copper, it drives the chicks wild! nananana

    Pardee

Well you definitely have some of the right dodgers with both the Vance's and Sep's in 4.5 and 5.5 (known as a 3/0 dodger). That Watermelon Sep's will typically roll above so the Kokes will have a tough time tracking the lure. I like a pretty short leader for Hoochies, down to 6 inches, but it...

    Pardee

I would try and keep that speed from 1.0 to 1.5... depending on the dodger of you go faster than that they will roll. (exception are slingblades). What brand and size Dodgers were you using? How long were your leaders on the hoochies? Good call to try just corn on a hook... that has worked a...

    Downrigger noise/vibration?

Given you mentioned you were up to 2.2MPH that could explain it. I'm guessing youu won't hear it at Kokanee speeds of 1.0 to 1.5. Kevin

    Downrigger noise/vibration?

If my Scotty's are humming it means I am going to fast on my boat... Scotty 1106's. Your mileage may vary. Kevin

    Pardee

Maybe we can help mechdawg... where did you fish on the lake, what were you using and how fast was your boat traveling? What corn scents were you using? The debris is probably from the tremendous snow melt happening with the warm weather as I heard the river mouth area on up is pretty stained...

    kokanee water temp

I'll chip in on this one with some observed data using a FishHawk Thermotroll device over the last 3+ years across multiple California lakes, each with differing temp profiles, thermoclines etc. This gives me realtime data where that downrigger is set. Here's my observations.. 1. Kokanee...

    Sunday Berryessa

WTG GT...sounds like it was a bit of work but the persistence looks like it paid off. You should hit melones for some "silly" fishing. I'll either hit Berry or Pardee this holiday weekend probably.

New Melones 6-25 6-26 KP Derby Fun

It was a derby weekend for the HiTechKoke crew. Lots of familiar faces out there as well as this Forums Moderator, MR D who did very well. I was lucky to have both Jenna and Rachel on this trip which is a rarity these days. The trip started out with a bang / vibration which equated to a flat...

    Good setups from the derbies

Never let traditional leader length thinking prevent you from truing something that everyone says won't work. I recall a day a few years ago where a friend outfished me 10 to 1 with an extremely long leader 18 to 20 with a Hoochie and dodger setup. My shorter leaders with the same Hoochie...

Lake Berryessa 6-11-11 - A bit slow at the derby...

Hey Old School.... I thought it was a Freudian slip but I wrote PK which equates to Project Kokanee = CIFFI. None the less there were not any reports derby day that I know of from the dam but I heard rumors there were some. The only way to know will be to check it out.

    LGVR Koke Report?

I never see a lot of reports for LGVR but sure would be interested in knowing more about the fishery there since it gets planted. Kevin

    Good setups from the derbies

Remembering - I started reading your post and then chuckled.... as soon as it said fished the last two derbies... I was like hmmmm I was at those derbies.... wonder who this could be... Then I saw the reference to a licorice setup and I knew who it was. Thanks for sharing your tacklebox...

Lake Berryessa 6-11-11 - A bit slow at the derby...

Fished this Sat at the PK Derby with Rachel this time and overall it was a pretty slow bite for us and apparently a lot of others. In the end we boated a handful of Kokanee but all around 13 inches except one that was 16.5, mainly between 35 and 45 feet. It was a Hoochie bite for us, mainly...

    Lake Berryessa 6-10-11 - A slow day

Tks for the report...things seem to be tough there lately.

Don Pedro 6-4-11, 6-5-11 - KP Derby Weekend Fun

Sunday was much nicer with rainbows everywhere... and nice fish too for the ladies... This King was caught on a corn and gummy bear candy combo.. I kid you not.... I let them pick their lure, blue UV hoochie and bait... they were shocked it caught a fish! These ladies got it done! Kevin

Don Pedro 6-4-11, 6-5-11 - KP Derby Weekend Fun

Fished the Kokanee Power Derby with Jenna on Saturday and we were outfitted in full rain gear, a rare event for a June. The fishing was pretty slow overall for Kokes but the occasional trout or King made it interesting. The Kokes are very fat footballs this year which is a welcome upgrade...

    Lake Berryessa 5-29-11 - A slow day

I will likely be there for the derby and it does sound like we'll have to work for them.
