If I were fishing Navajo in Early June

I'm going to start a new thread . If I were going to fish for Kokanee in early June , I always make a couple passes east of the Island out about 100 ft ot so.Or I might try the east shore straight across from the marina between the San Juan arm south to the Frances arm . Then i'd try along the...

Thats the general consensus , but I'm not sure . There are 3 arms of the lake. The longest is the San Juan . Its 35-36 mi long and a few miles is in CO. The water is shallow in the CO part of the lake .There used to be a Fireworks display on July 4th holiday out over the lake in CO. We cruised...

A "bucket" tackle organizer...good rainy day project

I've been using pipe insulation to store my lures for a long time . The tackle bucket idea looks great. I just use a loop knot on the end of the leader. I use 1/2 a round toothpick pushed into the foam at an angle to hold the loop end to the foam .

Thanks for the welcome. I don't see a lot of boats fishing Kokanee at Navajo. I think its a under utilized resource. thats probably why the 12 fish limit , 24 in posession . Most weekdays in past years there might be 4 or 5 boats out. I can't get up there till June 15th . After that I'll...

    Launch ramp antics

The other one was at Powel . Somewhat similar , Wife or girlfriend in a Cadillac this time and the guy was in a 24 ft twin cabin cruiser. Its a very long ramp and the woman was having a hard time backing straight. I was with friends on a house boat at the dump station. The guy was cussing and...

    Launch ramp antics

Anyone that's been boating awhile will have stories to tell . I have 2 , thankfully I wasn't the star . In the early 60s I had my first restaurant in Red Bluff Ca . After the lunch rush I went down to the launch ramp for something. A guy had a brand new ski boat being backed down the ramp by a...

    Kokanee Kracka

I bought some inexpensive composite fly reels from Cabalas that had a pretty large drag disk and used them like a knuckle buster . I still have them. I may try them again .

    Second Rod Stamp...

Its fun. I don't keep trolling . I take it out of gear . I don't use attractors and set a light drag or just the clicker on. I land one , and the other if its still hooked up. I've tried continuing to troll and have more hooks pull outm more pressure on tender mouths . I troll pretty fast ...

Hi Does anyone fish Kokanee year round ? On Navajo Lake NM where I fish I seldom see anyone fishing Kokanee before June , and only snaggers after mid Sept . I've caught Koks in early May with the down riggers at 10 feet and long setbacks , and I've had the lake to myself. I've not done as well...
