2013-2016 Idaho Kokanee Fishing Reports Quick Links

Fished for 5 hrs on 10/4, caught a few 15" trout and 1 12" kokanee, had a great day but out of the last 50 or so trips in the last few yrs this was by far the toughest and least productive kokanee fishing I've seen

2013-2016 Idaho Kokanee Fishing Reports Quick Links

I'm surprised there haven't been a few reports lately, I plan to head up this Saturday, had battery issues last week that kept me from going I'm guessing they are between 0 and 20' deep currently, start at spring shores and work your way downstream until you hook one, good luck

even with the murky water lots of 11-14" kokanee can be landed, just like any body of water the fish have to be in the area, i would imagine many of the cooperative fish are anywhere between 15 and 30' currently and some might even be up on the surface, i plan to fish on 9/27/14 and if i go i...

2013-2016 Idaho Kokanee Fishing Reports Quick Links

Lots of folks have a tough time convincing kokanee to bite in July and August, maybe the fish just see too many of the same presentations over and over and they are worn out from the last few months, luckily most of the lucky peak kokanee folks don't fish for them in September and October, it...

    Down Rigger releases

i've been using the chamberlains all year and they are great, i did decide to have a few drinks before ordering them to sell myself on the idea of paying that much for a release, i saw them on kokaneetackle.com for $18.99, i still feel like they are worth the price, time will tell but they are...

bayhorse, sounds like you and Lunddude have been making a dent in the population, and I'm hoping that the fish you both are catching are next years spawners, if you guys and the bull trout and the chinook keep it up Anderson should be turning out some consistent 16"+ kokanee in the next few years

    dodger or no dodger?

from what i hear most folks will run dodgers with the lures you describe, i always run dodgers and i use soft lures about 70% of the time and then spoons and spinners the rest of the time

on 7/12/14 one of the fish we caught was just starting to turn, but all the rest were bright, so you still have some time the 11-14" next year fish will always be ready for our lures, in october those 14" fish seem to fight like the early summer 17" fish

    How long is your rod?

i run shorter rods, 6.5' and 7' rods, but only because they are cheap non-kokanee rods, if i bought brand new rods today i'd buy 7.5', and the 8' vs 7.5' won't make much difference on your downriggers except one will take up slack a bit better when the line pops from the release

I caught one today matching your description, it was about 11" and looked a lot like a chinook, had lots of spots along its back, I'm sure it was a kokanee though, couldn't be anything else

    Bayliner trophy

How does this boat hold up over the years? I always see several for sale in my area but I've had a friend urge me to stay away from anything bayliner I've heard that the older trophys were produced with the bayliner name, someone told me that the newer trophys (which don't appear to be...

Welcome, lots of the smaller kokanee in deadwood, generally arrowrock produces lots of the 18-20" fish but they are tougher to find this yr Deadwood does offer some great trout and chinook fishing, lots of 3-5lb fish, I haven't fished it before but lots of folks on this forum have, I'm sure...

fishing more will help, nothing can replace time on the water, and you might be close to 50' deep depending on your speed, but the fish down there are going to be pretty sluggish and the cool water and near zero visibility will make fishing tough when fishing 50' deep in LP, and its hard to say...
