LBC Metolious arm on Saturday - got a late start but finally limited (2 people). Most were 10 - 11" with a couple 12". Color they wanted was pink. Caught some on wedding rings but mainly hoochies with the smaller Dakota dodger. Debth was 60 - 70 ft. Water temp at surface was already 62...

    scent formla??

I've had good luck with using white shoe peg corn soaked in either tuna or garlic overnight. I have used both the commercial formulas along with just using tuna oil drained off a can of tuna and water off a jar of minced garlic. I have not really noticed a difference. The professional made...

    Dodger length and size

Good to know. Most of what I have are on the smaller side so going to try the 5.5 and see how they work. Thanks for the feed back. Probably more of excuse to get more gear, but oh well....

    Dodger length and size

True that on the spending part! I have gone through a lot of the old posts and they mention color and make of dodger - just very little is mentioned on the length or size of the dodger. Curious if anyone finds much difference on using a 4" versus 4.5" or even a 5". Would love to own a whole...

Nice! That is what it's all about. I am curious on where you get your orange hoochies. I am having a hard time finding some in solid orange in the 1.5 length. T

    Dodger length and size

With all the new styles and sizes of Dodgers, any recommended length that works particularly well? I've seen them from 3 1/2" to 6". Curious as to if size really matters when it comes to Dodgers. If so, does depth and time of year make a difference as to size? Looking at picking up some more...

    New downriggers!

Combination of reading the installation manual, talking with the manufacturer and having had downriggers in the past. I do agree that with handling heavy weights while setting lines and releases the mounting location needs to be convenient and safe for those operations. The whole idea here, as...

Good for you. Be interested in how you did. Curious on the hoochie with a smile blade: I have always run mine plain with no blade. Do you see a difference with running it with a blade? I have heard the extra flash from the blade improves the lure - just have not tried it. Also, how far...

    New downriggers!

It's a safety issue - right out of the Scotty manual: "The downrigger can be mounted on the side of the boat, the stern or off the corner. Downriggers work best if they are mounted near the stern of the boat. They will work in any location but the risk of tangling wire line in your prop while...

Good to know. We went up three weeks ago and limited using pink hoochies by the dam. Sounds like they might have moved out. Any word on how the Crooked River arm is doing? Tried the Deschutes and could not locate the schools.

    New downriggers!

Considering that this was the advice from the dealer along with what the Scotty manual outlines, plus if you look at most of the mounted downriggers being in that range would be curious on what you find bizarre about it.

What lures do you use at what depth?

Switched to hoochies last year - primarily in pink - and slayed them. Key is to fish a short leader with heavier line. I tie my own: double hooks on 12 lb test. Key is to keep the leader about 2 1/2 times the length of the dodger. Personally I do mine outstretched hand width - pinky to...

    New downriggers!

Just put two new Scotty electrics on after having manual ones.....no comparison. Love them! Dealer told me to put them no further then 30" from the stern - as far back as reasonably feasible. Work great.
