Jim, haven't experienced the hooks ripping out since I've been using the heartland kok rods. I'd say we're close to ninety percent on hook ups and fish in the boat using the double hook set up.

I bought a couple of those heartland dwnrgr kok rods a month or so ago. Great rod for the price, light action you can really load em up on the downrigger.

We fished monday from three til seven @ 27' with fifteen in the boat seven were nice fish (turning pink though) sixteen and over, with one still silver. the others were smaller fish. used a larger silver w/ silver tape dodger and pink or orange hoochie. from the bridge out.

I may be able to help you out with the hoochies. ordered a bunch in bulk a month or so ago. What size are you looking for?

Mojo, what colors were you swinging? We were doing pretty well with green apex's behind green/glow dodger and couldn't get anything to hit on the hoochies. What boat were you in?
