    Losing Kokanee Too Much

    Going from octopus to dropshot hooks increased my catch ratio from about 40% to 70-8o%. Use # 2 and #4, nothing smaller. A common mistake is to go with too small a hook.

    8 for 11 this morning at 80-85 feet on the downrigger. Caught my largest koke so far, 15" on the button.

    Amazing, isn't it? I never thought I'd fish that deep for kokanee, but ..... Six for seven on Tuesday morning, 11-12 inches, so it would seem this is the way it will be for the rest of the summer.

    7:00 a.m. Slow to start, abrief flurry of action around 7:45. The best time for me was later, between 9:00 - 10:00. It's been like that on my last few trips, with late morning being as good or better than early.

    Finally seem to be getting dialed in on this lake after many attempts. I went 5 for 7 this morning, all 13-14 inches, but man, are they deep! All strikes were at 80 feet on the rigger with green/chrome Slingblade or Sep's dodger with homemade spinners.
