6:00-11:30a.m partly sunny, little to no wind, water surface temp 43 deg.

Took the boat out the first time this season for a few hours to try out some chironomid patterns I tied a few nights earlier. Headed to the East ramp to find, to my surprise, the whole launch and parking area filled with row boats, tents, and people milling around getting ready for an event........ Great!....

Why wasn't I told of this?!

So I head over to the west side of the lake where there is another launch and go from there. The morning was perfect fishing weather but as i suspected the water temps were still too low for a good chance at the kokes. I marked some schools here and there and did spot a couple of them mocking me by jumping near my boat.

A couple more beautiful day's of sunny weather like today will get them in a biting mood. Anyone have better success today on the lake?

nice work on giving it a go. The weather for the next 10 days doesn't look too promising, hopefully they will be wrong like normal! I want to get up there and try it out this year.
