Got up here yesterday afternoon-picked up a few yesterday that were decent size let smaller ones go. Today weather was up and down with rain, wind, but we managed it. Wife did catch one nice male spawner-(again) and brought it out for pictures, then put it back in and kept it in the net until it could easliy swim away. There are still plenty of kokes that are silver, and will be good to eat. We kept a few more today. Still pulling out nice fish with RMT planton pink squids, Christensen pinks, and RMT cotton candys in about 60 feet of water going 1.7-2 miles an hour using fusion and bahama dodgers. Also picked up a few nice macs too.

Thats a beautiful red the wife is holding. thumbsup Thats a wall hanger in my book, maybe not the largest or a record but all the same. I would be happy with the photo too. awesomereport

Thanks for the pics. I showed them to my wife and we are defiantly heading up in the morning. I feel like a kid in a candy store right now, note to self don't screw it up and do what she says for the rest of the day. WOOHOO.

Thanks-

We did pick up a few more on Sunday that we kept, caught another spawner but not near as big and no hook jaw. That one went back into the water as well. I'll have to leave it to the wife to pull the really nice ones out- whistlersmother

We did have 2 really nice fish hook up, but one got tangled up on the downrigger cable and cut the line-probably the biggest we brought to the boat this trip. We had another one hit over by Breeze Hill just as the WFG came over to see how we were doing. It breeched the water with one big slap was gone just like that. I was not a happy camper and he had to listen to me whine for a minute or 2 while he was checking stuff. rolleyes It was all good though-not his fault.

In the end a really fun time for our last Koke trip this year.

Curious why the foam around the net hoop? Floatation, protecting the fish, keeps it from rattling, protecting the boat or all of the above? Thanks for the GREAT PICS!

SmokeOnTheWater,

For floatation. Without it, the net would sink like a rock. Someone on this forum-(gulfstream) had done the same thing, and suggested it to me-it works great. Since then, he has cut away part of the foam on his so that you can push the net into the water enough to bring the fish into the net without having to lift it over and in. This has been great info for me.
