Whenever we go fishing why does it always feel like we are going backwards? Or is the back of the boat the front in this case? Fishermen are the only ones that can face the rear of a boat, sitting or standing, trolling away with the front of the boat going the opposite direction. Although, we do keep an eye open so we don't run into something or someone else. But even at times when things get jumping(busy) around in the boat, we can lose our sense of direction and cross lines with someone. On one occasion that happened with me and some how I snagged another guys lure that broke off of his line on my downrigger cable. This was a case of him long lining on a DR. He kept trolling like nothing happened. I saw his rod like it was setting a hook(whiplash)and never released. But he didn't see it. It took me 40min to catch up to him to give him his presentation back.

Mickey's approach is when you get close to other boats, never make eye contact and force them to be the first to flinch and move.

i usually save those times to relieve myself off the bow. works like a charm and i always get the line i want. ha ha ha.
