Almost everyone that I have talked to has said that barometer is key to a good day of fishing and I was wondering if it really matters a whole ton and why. Also how many people rely on the barometer.

I believe the barometric pressure has some thing to do with fish and there eating habits. When the pressure is low that means a cold front is either on its way or has just passed thru. Cold fronts bring north winds and cooler temps and the catching becomes a little more difficult. I believe the fishing is always great its the catching that usually takes the hit. Thats just my 2 cents worth and welcome to the board.

I always was lead to believe fish with air bladders like salmon, kokanee etc will be effected by the pressure. At time's effect there mood. I personnel believe in it. I don't like east wind either.

Ive fished walleye for 40 years and know high and low pressure turns them on and off like a switch....
