Captured a picture of a double rainbow as we returned to Buckboard campground after a Saturday morning fishing. Daughter and I had caught our limit on nice (at least to me) kokes, mostly on pink and orange apex. Then again, several others have reported different hot set ups just confirming that it is great catching right now. Spent the remainder of trip trying to find macks and smallies; not very successful in those ventures. Sunday morning on the lake was gorgeous calm, but boy did the wind hit about 10:30 when we were packing up camp.

Got to visit with Jacksonslayer Sat in the trailer parking. Glad he had on his Kokanee forum t-shirt. - always nice to meet a fellow from here.

It was good to meet you too Smokepoles. When ever I fish the Gorge, I wear my " colors " like I'm a gang member !! You did way better than I did. I had one of those everybody else is catching fish but me days. I wound up with only 5 kokes landed, only put 2 in the box ( 3 dinks) lost another 5, I caught 2 decent smallmouths, 5 small rainbows and a 4 lb mac. I cant wait to get back...there were some nice size kokes at the cleaning station. Maybe that's were I should be fishing !!

Well, JL, while there were clearly a number catching a good bite, my thought was that there were a good many more having a much more difficult time based on how long the boats stayed out and how spread out they got over the morning. Anyhow, we were lucky to find some kokes willing to play on the fringes of the 'fleet' and no one ever came over.

Were you trying for the smallies? I tried several spots and could not buy a hit. We did enjoy listening to a pair of loons in one bay; they bring back great memories of northern Wisconsin lakes.

We went south to look for some more kokes and on the way back to buckboard we hit a couple of coves on the east side of the lake. One of the coves was shallow with weeds...no bass. The other was deeper with a lot of rocks...that's where I caught them. I was throwing a small brown tube, bouncing it off the bottom. There are usually a lot of bass in the rockier coves, but I did not get a lot of action. The smallies were both around 15".
