So the decision to sleep in was made yesterday, we figured after all the gunpowder and food from the 4th why not? We launched at American at 10:30am and were fishing about 5 min. later. After about a half an hour of searching for kokanee I see a Chinook helicopter coming from the south. Not a big deal being that McCord is near by, and we see them all the time. But this was way different. It came over to the lake and started to hover over the water, kicking up a visible spray! I am thinking this is cool. And next it got lower and lower until………….
Yep its on the water! The blades were still going and they just kind of motored around for a bit and then took off. This is when we pulled up our gear and went to watch the show. They were in and out of the water 6 times before leaving. And then another one came and did the same thing. What a treat!
We went back to fishing. I was hoping to get a few hookups was all, I had some so-so reports from the day before. So a few fish and I’m thinking we will be happy. Well is started a little slow…..
And then things got warmed up with a double header!!!
We have not had a double in a long time. And almost had a second double too. It took us about an hour and 45 min to get our 10 kokanee. We had a near perfect day!!!! We had 13 strikes, 10 of them stuck and we landed all 10!!!! Not one fish hooked and lost!!!! That does not happen often. Just as I got the last fish in the net the Kokanee Dominators rig went flying thru the air. I’m guna go ahead and call it a perfect day.
