Fished the Kokanee Power Derby with Jenna on Saturday and we were outfitted in full rain gear, a rare event for a June. The fishing was pretty slow overall for Kokes but the occasional trout or King made it interesting. The Kokes are very fat footballs this year which is a welcome upgrade. All of our fish were in the 35 to 45 foot range. We managed 5 Kokanee overall from 15.5 to 16.5 that turned out to be a lucky bunch that allowed Jenna to take 2nd in the juniors and I managed 6th which was a nice surprise. Our Kokes wanted Hoochies in Pink flavors like the Cotton Candy from RMT. Lots of familiar faces were out fishing the derby so we had plenty of post derby stories to share.
We stayed Sat night and then Jenna's friend Connie joined our boat for some girl power fishing while her dad Khanh teamed up to fish with Capt Ron for some competitive boat rivalry. In the end Connie beat her old man with a 19 inch Rainbow vs a similar sized King. Koke action was slower for us on Sunday but the weather was much nicer and the Rainbows and Kings kept the girls busy.
Some pics of the weekend adventure....
Bundling up during the lulls in action was important to stay dry...
An awesome looking Pedro Trout...
How about a King...
And a fatty Koke...
