it has been over 20 years since i last fished the gorge and we are heading there on the 22nd to fish for a few days.
What are some of the most important and productive dodgers and lures that I will need to have in order to catch some of the kokanee there. I would love to get my wife into some successful fishing.
I have the boat, downriggers, fishfinder and rods just need a little tackle help
Thank you in advance.

You can get whatever you want it really does not matter, as long as you are in the right spot at the right time you could use a bare needle and catch em. Just my .02 cents

I would look at getting a few of teh following,

Dodgers:
hyper plad
Hyper plad pink
Bahama mama
any of our glow dodgers in 5.5

These are RMT dodgers in the 5.5 inch

I would look at getting any of teh following squids.

Pearl
Pink haze
cotton candy
double pink
green haze
Caribbean

Run these squids about 8inches behind these dodgers at 1.4 to 1.6 mph. try diffrent speeds. see what the fish want. start at around 40 feet down to 60 feet.

Location? Just look for where all the other boats are and jump in the middle and be patient. some goof ball local up there who is a guide likes to criss cross through the other boats and make it tough.

Add a little pro cure scent to your dodger or squid and tip things with a berkly gulp maggot in either pink, green or natural. This should put some fish in the boat!

Good luck!

101hearye I agree with Kokaholic. There are other things out there which in due time you should have but with RMT you can't go wrong. With what has been mentioned here has been very productive for me recently.

thank you for the info.. I have ordered most of that now.
I really appreciate the help.
Heres to good fishing !!!

Yea, he turned his boat in front of me only 25 yards away then told me (yelled) to turn to port or I was going to run over his lines. To bad the Game and Fish can't do more about the sphincter muscle's invading our waters.

I have to admit, I really like your name for him! He is really that part of the human anatomy!thumbsup

When he turned in front of us my wife was at the helm and I was trying to reset a downrigger. When he yelled for me to turn to port she had a few choice words for him. I think they started with an F and ended with a U. My ears were burning the rest of the day, never heard a lady talk like that before.

Kokes at Flaming Gorge

Fish the Gorge the easy, most enjoyable and most productive way. Vertical jig with metal jigs. Hot pink works well. Mike Hall (from Ogden, UT) set five line world records, in less than a week, by vertical jigging Crippled Herrings.
