I took the 9 year old grandson to Wickiup on Friday evening for Saturday fishing. Took longer to get out of camp than I thought so the boat did not hit the water until 0530, first line in the water about 6. He hooked up within 3 minutes, then continued to land seven pigs by 0800. Here is the kicker.

We were using identical rods, identical line counter reels, identical line and leaders, identical dodgers, identical hoochies, identical corn and I had been putting all the corn on.

He landed seven, I got skunked. I got one to the boat then there was a little error with the net and away it swam.

After 8am we could not find a fish, even got to the bottom of the tackle box for some stuff I had not used for years.

Still a day of fishing that I would not trade for anything.

Quite common in my opinion and is the primary reason I have a rule on my boat to alternate fish regardless of which rod it comes on. Grandkids would probably be the only exception to the rule.

Yep seen it a lot ! Most of the time if you bring them both in side by side so you can see them, they will have a slight difference in the way they run. More action less action or whatever. Orrrr you just had really bad luck LOL !

A day on the water with your grandson is way cool !
