I'm sure this has been beat to death but I'm leaving on a trip this coming Saturday for a week and thought I'd check to see what you guy's think is "Hot" I've never caught a Koke yet so I need all the help I can get. I was planning to use a downrigger with a gang troll of some sort. Willow leaf or Ford fender, attached to the ball as a attractor and the main line 3' above and about 3' behind the hardware. I was thinking about a "Wedding Ring" and maggot or worm. What's your hot setup ??? Jack

In North Carolina hot pink, florescent pink and chartruse work well. Keep it simple in the beginning. Double wammy wedding rings work well. Kokanee killers also produce. Hootchies and squids(in the above colors) trolled behind a small dodger are working well for me now.

The majority of my arsenal is centered around spinners in purple, pink and a combination of the 2.

You'll want to take along a good assortment of lures (kokes seem to change their mind alot.) In-line spinners, apex's, hoochies, bugs, and small spoons all have there time and place. Also, some days jigging will out-produce trolling (alot of it depends on the lake your fishing.) Most days one color will work for a while but to get the bite going again you'll need to try others. Bring pink, orange, silver, purple, green, chartruse, blue and black. I've found the ball trolls effective in the mornings but by the time the sun gets overhead you might need to shed them...seems to be too much flash some days. One more thing...don't forget the shoepeg corn and gel scent the lures.

Thats some real good info from everyone so far & I'll add a little more!

At Lake Merwin & Green Peter I use a lot of white/pink, chartuse, blue and purple/pink hoochies. The Hoochie Thing from Crystal basin seems to do a little better than those without the blade in front.
I always try to match dodger & sling blade colors to the lure allthough its not really necessary, it just makes me feel better!!

Dont forget Shopeg Corn! There are several ways to add scent & color to the corn. I try to have a couple with pink die and a different scent ready to go a few days in advance, just keep them cool.

There are also some new type dodgers from Macks, the double d , it has different line settings and it pulls to the side of the boat. I use it on the bottom when stracking 2 lines on 1 DR.

Good Luck!!.....Kokonuts.....101wave101

you didn't mention were you were headed because all lakes fish differently. we can get your boat skunked up with kokanee scales.

Thanks Guy's. That sounds like they'll take whatever's offered as long as it's what they want. 'laugh hyst I'm assuming a Double wammy wedding rings is just two wedding rings put together. I've never heard of "Shopeg Corn" this something new or do you make it ? I have some hoochies from my saltchuck fishing days that I may try. Various pinks, silver, greens. They all have two inline hooks. I think our local regs require a single hook, so I guess i'll have to retie them and maybe trim them down a bit. I have a small 4" dodger that should work with them. Does anyone use flies ? I picked up some pink flies last spring but I never got around to trying them. I'm thinking whatever you use it should be small. Well I found out that Shopeg Corn is a special strain of corn. Never seen it in the"Great White North" 'laugh hyst Jack
