My wife and I have had a couple of good weeks fishing and we were wondering about the fish consumption adviserys.
June 7 we ate a small koke from the gorge
June 8 we smoked the rest of the kokes and ate them for dinner
June 9 and 10 we ate walleye for dinner that we caught from Willard
June 11 we had halibut in San Diego
June 13 we ate catfish taco's from Utah Lake
June 14 we ate walleye taco's from Willard
How long before we can start eating fish again?

Let your hair be your guide. When it stops falling out in big clumps, you can start thinking about the next time you can have fish again.

Here in WNC it seems like every lake the state checks gets an advisory on consuming walleye. We try to fish lakes where there are no advisories. Ignorance is bliss ,or maybe it's caused by eating contaminated fish.

Just read in NC fish & Game that mercury warnings have been issued for Nantahala Lake and Lake Chatuge. In Chatuge it covers white bass and largemouth bass. In Nantahala it involves smallmouth bass, walleye, yellow perch and largemouth bass. No mention of trout or kokanee. Have not been out on the lake recently as I have problems with power outages, no phones and on and off water. The weather has been pretty lousy. Hope to get out Wednesday weather permitting.

i have been eating fish once to twice a week for 56 years or so. i have not seen any side effects so far. now, i do not eat fish from bodies of water that i know are really contaminated, but mercury is in most all lakes everywhere. if there is coal in the ground there will be traces of mercury in the lake, just like oil seeps into the ocean naturally from the ocean floor. just use common sense. every lure, and anything else for fishing says on the packageing that it may cause cancer in california. therefore i do not fish with them in california. haha.
