flaming gorge water project

Water was an issue back when settlement of the West was in it's infancy. Seems like spending billions on a project like this only proves American Greed still lies within some of us. I guess part of this proposal would naturally include water recreational opportunities as well as numerous golf courses along the Front Range. I wonder what the folks in the MidWest would think if Mr. Million tapped into the Missouri or Mississippi River systems and stole their water resource?

There have been attempts to divert water from the great lakes by the peoples of the west. there also have been attempts to divert the columbia river. all have failed so far.

Water Rights?

I hate to hear about water transfers wherever they may happen.I hope one day to get to the Gorge and would hate for it to be drained. Here in Western North Carolina Fontana Reservoir has been mentioned as a possible water source for Atlanta. I don't want to hold back growth in urban areas (the more people moving to the cities the better),but cities shouldn't be able to raid the resources of other regions, states etc.2cents

With the millions of dollars that's going to funnel into piping water to urban areas, this country needs to build more dams to accomodate urban growth instead of drying what little resourses there is. Millions alone is spent in just surveys and alot of that tab money is spent in wining & dining. Always hearing about how nature & earthquakes play a vital part in dam building. Well, there's no getting around that. There has been proposed projects all around the country to build more dams but something in one form or another prevents it. But millions keep getting tied up into these proposed projects for years to come. Who's getting the kickbacks? I have seen a proposed dam project at Auburn, Ca. take millions of $$$$ over the years when I use to live in Sacramento just for them to say it an earthquake hazzard waiting to happen. There are those there that are saying "Build it Dam it". On somethings, we need to take chances to go thru with projects and avoid building faulty dams such as the one that was built in Idaho and broke back about 1976. There are some great dam projects all around our country that dates back to the early 1900's and still holding. With earthquake studies out today, alot of the other existing dams that are earthfilled are being beefed up. Barring becoming extinct tomorrow, population growth is not showing signs of slowing down. Over 6 billion on this big round ball and counting.

Roger, 2012 is right around the corner. They couldn't even get an approved EIR report by then. It'll all be over soon, you better retire and start enjoying it while you can.
