glow flag for your stick and balls (weights)!

I was sitting around thinking (which is dangerous and usually expensive) and had these glow sticks and was wondering how to incorporate them on my downrigger weights and looking in my steelhead box I saw a solution, my rubber lead holders, that should work , so I dasiey chained 6 of them togather and zip tied the one end to the bottom of the ball snubber and used a kokanee snuber to to the other and cliped it to the top of the ball snubber so it holds it tight and streaches with the ball snubber now I have a flag "if you will" of glowing color and if you use all 6 colors you should be able to hit the entire color spectrum so if they are atracted to light they should find something they like, can't wait to drag it thru a bunch of macks to see what happens. I took it out on the river this morning real quick to see if I had any twisting or other problems and every thing looks good so far. but it is something any body can build and use. oh the weight holders are for 3/16' size lead

You have quite the talent for tackle developement. It will be interesting to see if the glow sticks will handle the water pressure at deeper levels, or if they will crack or break. Good luck on your testing.

Dragonfly....WoW! I love it!!! I've been try to think of a way to use them & here it is!!!!!

I see the Chamberlin release but is that your weight at the other end ? If so how much does it weigh.

Thanks & keep up the good work!! Kokonuts

I've put a video camera done at them depths and your on the right track/ visibability is just inches off the bottom I was at Odell when I did this

sawtooth I had them in my dodger down to 90' for a few hrs. and with no problem the ones on the downrigger ball I had down to 35' today with out breaking the inside to set off the glow. origanily I tested them with those very concerns down to 240' on a downrigger ball for about 15 min. and it didn't crack the insides to set off the glow. like some one said this may be too much light and may have to cut down on a few or get shorter glow sticks water clairty will be a factor in that. thats why its expermenting. they are cheep and easy to make so every one that wants to try, can. dfly

kokonuts they are my downrigger weights they are ss wraped in D.O.T. reflective tape in silver my other is in red the stuff you see on trucks at night they are 12''long started out at 10 lbs. 2oz turning down the ends makes them 9 lbs 12 oz. hope that helps. dfly
